Terms
The rules for using fillmein. Last changed 22 October 2026.
The short version
fillmein is free, paid for by ads. Make puzzles, solve them, keep your word lists. What you make stays yours. Don't use the site to hurt anyone or to break it, and keep your own copy of anything that matters to you.
Who can use it
Anyone can make and solve puzzles without an account. To make an account you must be 13 or older, or older still if the law where you live says so. You're responsible for what's done with your account, so keep its password to yourself.
What you make is yours
Puzzles, clues, word lists and anything else you make on fillmein stay yours. To run the site, our team needs your permission to store them, copy them between your devices, and, when you share a puzzle, show it to anyone who has its link. Using the site gives us that permission, free of charge and only for running the site. It ends for a puzzle when you stop sharing it or delete it.
Only put things on the site that you have the right to: don't share someone else's puzzle as your own, or load a puzzle or word list you aren't allowed to copy.
What isn't allowed
- Sharing or writing anything illegal, hateful or harassing, sexually explicit, or aimed at a real person.
- Pretending to be someone else.
- Using bots or scripts to make accounts, send messages, copy the site or its word data, or load it heavily.
- Trying to get into other people's accounts or data, or around the site's limits and security.
- Using the site to send spam.
Our team may take down content, stop a shared link, or close an account that breaks these rules.
Scores and suggestions
Word scores, word options and fills are the site's best guesses, not facts, and some words in the lists may not suit your puzzle. Use your own judgement about what goes in it.
No guarantees
fillmein is a free site run by a small team. It comes as it is: we don't promise it will always be up, free of mistakes, or that saved work can never be lost. Keep copies of anything that matters: a puzzle's Export tab downloads it as .puz or .ipuz, or prints it.
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
As far as the law allows, our team isn't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, arising from using the site or not being able to use it. If we are held liable for anything, the most we owe is $50 or what you paid us in the twelve months before, whichever is more.
If something shouldn't be here
If something on the site uses your work without permission, or a shared puzzle shouldn't be up, tell our team on the Contact page, with its link and why. We read every one.
Leaving
You can stop using fillmein at any time, and delete your account and everything stored in it from the Privacy page.
Changes
These terms may change as the site does. The date at the top says when they last did, and the site will say so when a change matters. Using the site after a change means accepting the new terms.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, and disputes go to its courts, except where the law where you live gives you rights these terms can't take away.
Questions about any of this go to our team on the Contact page.
